When to request this test

  • Women: abnormal menstruel bleeding or discharge, dysuria, abdominal pain, pregnancy (preventing the risk of neonatal infection)
  • Men: dysuria, burning sensation, urethral discharge or bleeding
  • Both genders: any STI-risk situation (Chlamydia infection is often asymptomatic)

Interferences & limitations

Inadequate swabbing can lead to insufficient cellular material reducing test sensitivity.
