When to request this test
Intense itching, skin lesions (typically found in specific areas like finger web spaces, wrists, elbows, armpits, genital areas, buttocks, and breastsburrows), thin, wavy, gray or pink lines caused by the movement of mite.
Close contact with other cases
Interferences & limitations
- Mites are not always present in the sampled lesion
- Low sensitivity in early cases or if the patient has already started treatment
- Improper technique (e.g. scraping too deep or too shallow) can miss superficial mites or eggs
The test requires trained personnel and proper equipment (follow the protocol)
