When to request this test

Acute or chronic diarrhea

Interferences and limitations

  • Use of antiparasitic, antidiarrheal drugs, or antibiotics medications can alter the presence or survival of parasites in the stool, leading to false-negative results.
  • Some parasites, such as Giardia or Entamoeba histolytica, may not always be present in every stool sample.

Multiple samples may be required for accurate detection
