For each microbiology test, the guide outlines key details.For certain micobiological tests (such as cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), blood cultures, malaria) expanded clinical guidance is provided to support appropriate patient management and optimal treatment.

The manual also includes several complementary documents, such as therapeutic guidelines, procedures for communicating critical results and request forms. These documents are intended to be adapted to local practices and may be customized as needed.

For selected tests (blood culture, cerebrospinal fluid, malaria, stool culture & urine culture) specific guidance is provided on:
